A coronary set (or PTCA kit) is a specialized, sterile collection of instruments used in interventional cardiology, primarily for percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty and stenting to treat blocked heart arteries. These sets, including catheters, balloons, and guidewires, are crucial for reopening narrowed vessels and restoring blood flow to the heart.

Preventing Artery Closure:
Placed after balloon angioplasty to keep coronary arteries from narrowing or closing again.

Drug-Eluting Stents (DES):
Most commonly used (>90% of cases), these are coated with medicine that helps prevent the artery from re-narrowing.

Emergency & Routine Treatment:
Used for immediate treatment of heart attacks to improve blood flow, as well as planned procedures for stable angina.

Minimizing Heart Damage:
By restoring blood flow, they help reduce damage to the heart muscle.

Long-Term Management:
Often used alongside antiplatelet medications (e.g., aspirin, clopidogrel) to prevent blood clots from forming inside the stent.
