Joint Exposure:
Specialized retractors and soft tissue protectors expose the hip or knee joint.
Bone Resection:
Saws and cutting guides are used to remove damaged cartilage and bone, ensuring accurate cuts for the femoral condyles and tibial plateau.
Implant Positioning:
Reamers are used to shape the acetabulum (hip socket), while tibial and femoral guides ensure proper alignment.
Trialing:
Trial components are inserted to test the stability and range of motion before final implantation.
Component Insertion:
Specialized impactors and inserters are used to place the final metal and polyethylene components into the bone, often using cement.
